  About VMR

(francais)

VMR was incorporated in 1989 under the name Automobile Investment Services (the name change occurred in 1992). Our first product, Value-Track®, was used extensively by investors, insurance and finance companies and general hobbyists in North America and Europe to track the pricing of valuable and, at the time, fast-appreciating classic, exotic, and other collector vehicles. In the early 90s, Value-Track was re-positioned to provide comparable vehicle listings to appraisers, adjusters and insurance companies. It is still used in this manner.

Also during this time VMR entered into an agreement with Edmund Publications to produce and edit Edmund Used Car Prices.  VMR automated Edmund's data entry and pricing methodology.  VMR was also heavily involved with the production of other Edmund titles.  We became convinced that there was a better way of tracking the used car market.

VMR developed several proprietary methodologies and algorithms before launching its Standard Used Car Prices in the fall of 1993.  From the start it has been a consumer-oriented guide that includes both wholesale and retail pricing.

In the spring of 1994 a second publication, Collector Car & Truck Prices (CCTP) was launched. CCTP was a logical extension of the original Value-Track pricing database and brought an unprecedented level of detail and accuracy to postwar collector vehicle pricing. We have since added extensive market editorial and have renamed it Collector Car Market Review. It enjoys worldwide recognition.

In the fall of 1997, VMR's Used Cars debuted. Used Cars brings consumers 10 years of VMR's used vehicle pricing and augments that with extensive editorial. This information and editorial is now published on the web.  Features include in-depth used car profiles complete with all known technical service bulletins, car care advice, product testing, best buys, models to avoid, a consumer news desk, the latest recalls, and an exhaustive section devoted to used car buying.

VMR Canada has been on the web since 2001.  We are still the only source of free, unlimited use Canadian used car and truck market values on the web.

All publications are distributed by Comag Marketing Group (a joint venture between the Hearst Corporation and Conde Nast) in New York and various secondary distributors.
